We want to thank everyone for sticking with us throughout this period. We are in the process of puting your money to work and thing are getting a little cranky. In the previous post, i told you why Baby Kelechi is still in the country and this are getting pretty much 'intense'. That might not be the right word but a couple of doctors are trying to make this look like

Baby Kelechi is still in the country
According to my timetable, baby Kelechi was supposed to be in India now with his mother prepping for surgery but that is not the case. He has been held back by some processes which involves transfer and referral from LUTH. We were at Mecure on saturday for his cardiac test and we are supposed to see the Doctors at LUTH on tuesday. We are hoping we'd get all we need on the hospital end so they can leave as soon as possible.
We want to thank you all for your support in helping us raise this money. Last friday was a slow day and we saw the lowest turnover since we started this cause. We hope this week brings a new kind of light so we ask that you help us spread this cause far on wide in every way you can.
Have a nice week ahead.

I don't have a timetable or maybe Restructuring it
I was at Mecure Healthcare today for an ECHO test (a variation of cardiac test). The results are going to be available on Saturday 23rd. Remember our timeline was 22nd of June. I didn't anticipate the long stories that would come out of getting a Medic report and reference letter from LUTH and allocated 2 days to that activity in my plan.
Tell a friend to tell a friend
We are optimistic that things would work out and we'd raise the entire money needed for the surgery. Let us keep praying for Baby Kelechi and remember to do your own part.
-Be the change you want to see in the world.
DAY 3: I can't 'Shout'!
Okay, i was at LUTH today (Wednesday, 20th) as agreed with the Doctors after getting the Airline fitness form and Yellow card from the local government. We were told they have to run some tests over again one of which was a blood test to certify blood volume and some ECO test (main heart stuff). The ECO test is not done in LUTH and we were referred. This would cost about N30,000 given

DAY 2: Hopeful
Our outing on Tuesday was successful. I was at LUTH, Randle general Hospital and Igbobi hospital. By Wednesday, we should get the complete reports we need hopefully and get a letter from India. I spoke with the Indian hospital yesterday and they requested for a document which they would get today.

DAY 1: Target Complete
Following our timetable, we achieved out first day target which was
to get an International passport for baby Kelechi and his mother. It was
real hectic and even though we knew someone that knew someone, we had
to wait longer than anticipated. It's all good.
Today we are finalising on the hospital in India and aggregating all
medical records from LUTH, Randle general hospital and
We are getting closer
A big thanks to everyone for your support, love and care. I want to let everybody know that our efforts to put this money together has been fruitful but we are still about a mile away and we need your help. Last sunday (17th June), i did some sort of appeal in church and there were good responses. I received almost N100,000 in cash and checks directly while the remaining were collected by the church ushers. Th e church is supposed to hand over the money to me today being tuesday we'd then know how much we have so far. Yesterday (Monday 18th) brought in about N200,000 and we are grateful to everyone involved.
Also to everyone calling to check on the boy, i appreciate.Remember our timetable? We are trying as much as possible to keep up with that. The mother and child should be leaving for India by Friday so do all you can to make it possible. Share the cause on Facebook, BBM, Twitter....Say a little prayer for this kid and it goes a long way. We appreciate you all.

THE IDEA OF CAUSEFUNDR & ME
I owe every one of you out there some explanation or story
at least. I would like to do a little unveiling on how the idea came to life.
Just like i’ve worked on different projects (Software development), i have
always had an idea that i wanted to try out in the Nigerian market. It’s
CROWDFUNDING. It’s not exactly a new idea but relatively new in Nigeria/Africa
and i thought someday i could try it out. The idea was quite simple: If people
could give so little that it doesn’t come off as a burden or major expense to
them while doing it at the comfort of whatever location they find themselves,
the sky would directly above our heads. All we’d just have to do is work on the
numbers and make sure as many as possible hear about it with an ‘un-doubtable’
reason to get involved. Social networks and other existing tools had solved the
problems of reaching out to people around the world but a major challenge
remained. PAYMENT SOLUTIONS
I envisioned a situation where people at the very minimum
use a mobile phone to give as little as 100 naira without hassle. Yes, a few
mobile payment solutions are coming up but none have really gone as far as
you’d want to capitalise on. But i noticed something.... far more than ¾ of all
payments made where from bank transfers online. It was amazing to know this
idea could work from now.
...THE MAIN BEGINNINGS
After i came across baby Kelechi, i thought about attaching
a brand that people could reckon with. I came up with CauseFundr from ‘Cause’
and ‘Funder’. The domain name www.causefunder.com
was taken so i had to lose the ‘e’. I wanted something in the name to connect
to the purpose of it that’s what the word ‘cause’ does. I originally tried names
like ‘1reason’, ‘a-reason’ but i didn’t pretty much have time to think. I had
to quickly hack the website, took the kids pictures with my blackberry and put
it up.
Like i said earlier, that's how we got here. There is a future and you are going to be part of it. Let's make baby Kelechi's surgery happen and we'd move from there.

THOSE OUTSIDE NIGERIA
A lot of you that have been calling me from all over the world UK, Canada, the US and i can't be more grateful. People have been asking on different blogs on
how to pay from outside the country and i want to do a little clarification.
This is usually one of the unfortunate times to be from this part of the world
even though we love this place, there’s something about it. Anyways, we can’t
get a direct payment system to you from here so we are stuck with two options.
WESTERN UNION & PAYPAL. I didn’t even have time to think when i was setting
this up. I am in the process of setting up a Paypal account and this would take
days and we have a deadline of Friday to get the kid out of the country.
Our only option at the moment is western union transfer.
Once we are going with that option, i’d be the one receiving the money. My name
is Larry Oti...see this post about the guy behind CauseFundr. All you would
have to do is call me or text me the details and i’d get the money and remit
it.
I’d like to know that you would be comfortable with this and can also give me other options. Meanwhile i would keep working on a paypal payment process
that we might get to use now or in the future.
Thanks very much.
Do rep Naija well outside our shores!

HOW FAR? OUR TIMETABLE
We have made progress and it’s encouraging but we are a long
way from home. 1.14 million puts us at 29% of the entire budget. We need to get
more funds and i’m hoping we should get to maybe 3 million by Friday. This is a
dream that i need to see happen so we need to put in more effort than we did in
the last days. For those that have donated, we ask that you share the cause on
all forms of social networks, give people the website and like our page on Facebook
as it helps the cause go viral. Follow us on twitter and tweet, retweet, use
hash tags #BabyKelechi or #SaveBabyKelechi and let’s see if we can make it
trend even if just for a few hours.
I told Baby Kelechi’s father
BABY KELECHI’s HEALTH
Baby Kelechi is not doing fine at all. On Thursday (14th
of June), he was given the Injection that lasts him 2 weeks and costs N15,000
but he didn’t sleep that night. I was with the parents until about 10pm before
leaving for my house. They stay at Surulere, somewhere close to Kilo. On
Friday, as early as 7.30am while i was at a meeting to get more funds, his parents
called me and had to take him to the hospital where they were for pretty much
the whole day. I was at the hospital
BABY KELECHI WOULD BE GRATEFUL
This is about the 10th line i would type before
resolving not to delete it again. Just as i was dumbfounded when the bank
alerts where coming in, my hands are equally freezing while trying to type this
at the thoughts of what you have done to help this cause. I don’t know what to
say, i don’t know how to start and THANK YOU would certainly not be enough. I
knew what i wanted to achieve when i started this, i am a tech person so i knew
how to handle this and anticipated how far it could go but there is a different
feeling seeing dreams come true. It’s hard to explain.
THE CAUSEFUNDR GHOST
People like the idea of someone behind a product so it would
be nice to know who is behind Causefundr. I owe as much to everyone given the
potential success of this very first cause.
My names are Oti Larry, i am a graduate of the 2010 class of
the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. I have not done my youth corp
(country serving things) but i would when i choose to. The story behind that is
not exactly straight but has a short version. I am a software engineer (write
programs, softwares, web apps, websites) but major in Front end dev, UI/UX for
those who understand better. I
THE CAUSEFUNDR BLOG
Welcome to our blog. We would get to interact here compared
to the website where we would just list the causes. Thanks very much for having
us. Please do join our facebook page, Follow us on twitter and let’s make this
thing more than we imagine. I want to shout a big thank you to every single one
of you out there. We do love you but God loves you best.
We have a future so follow us and see what we make out of
it. Whatever it is, we cannot do it without you.
Life is good, let’s live it fully and make it a point of
duty to put a smile on someone’s face every day. It could just be a joke or anything
just to make that person smile. It would be worth it.
Together we’d make
it.
Cheers
